  1. What to do is to call the hotels and find the lowest price, stay on the south end if you want quality. Then call the one that you really want to stay at, and tell them that if they can match the price, you will stay there. This will work because the hotels are at less than half of their capacity due to gas prices. Also allegiantair.com can give you cheap flights to and from Vegas as they are based there.

  2. New Years Eve is one of the most peak times in Vegas.  You need to start booking it now if you want any chance to find a room on the strip.

Whatever prices & availability you find now will probably be the best your going to get at this date.   My advice;  Try to book room & plane at the same time,  expect prices to be high,  don't be too fussy & think about the great time you will have.

  3. NYE is PEAK time for Las Vegas!  You can take a look at some of the cheap budget hotels.  But I just looked on Best Of Vegas and they have the Riviera for 106.00 a night during NYE.  So depending on how long you are staying you could make it work! http://www.bestofvegas.com/hotels/

    Have fun!

  4. Looking at Southwest.com right now, airfare goes up starting on the 19th of December, and doesn't really drop again until the 1st of January.  The standard price for Southwest airfare from Chicago to Vegas is $159 each way anyway.

If you went for 2 nights, like the 31st- Jan 2nd- the airfare on southwest would be $442.50

On sidestep.com, the cheapest round trip airfare is $291 on airtran, on a nonstop flight.  If you are in any position to pay for your airline ticket right now, I wouldn't take any chances and I would book at this rate.  There's not a very good chance that you will find anything cheaper.

The airport it is flying out of is MKE, which is Milwaukee.  That is less than 2 hours from Chicago.

The cheapest one out of the Chicago airports is $373 on United.

As it gets closer to time to leave, check this site for the lowest published room rates by the hotels. http://smartervegas.com/

Your cheaper hotels will be Excalibur, Harrah's, Imperial Palace, and Tropicana.  But it looks like a hotel will be at least $200/night for the l 31st.  So you have to figure at least $200 right there.  So with a $300 airfare and a $200 hotel stay, you could potentially keep it under $700, but you have to really scrape out the deals.

    EXAMPLE

    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/booki...

Excalibur is $201 on the 31st, and $61 on the 1st, but they don't allow arrivals on the 31st.

This is getting messy, but if you were to fly out on the 30th and stay until the 1st, it would be about the same price

    I hope this helps.

  5. For a cheap stay in Vegas, this can't be beat.  Free weekend at resort and all you have to do is listen to short sales presentation.  This is from Backpage.com, ad link is below.  Might be worth exploring.

  6. For New Year's is that one night??  Room prices go up on New Years and usually you have to book three nights so NO there is NO cheap airfare and rooms for that price on the Las Vegas Strip
