well the best cheap skiing i've ever done is on the east coast. it's not as bad as it sounds. everything is cheaper (lift tickets, rentals, etc.) then in the west.

Depending on what part of the world you want to go skiing, there are better deals in some areas...

A good lodging resource, anywhere in the world, is www.vrbo.com. (Vacation Rentals By Owner). You deal directly with owners and I have found their rates to be always lower than resorts, travel agents, etc. Sometimes, the owners of the properties can even hook you up with lift tickets...
