I heard it aids in hair loss, and in hair thinning. Does anyone know what stores sell this product?

  1. Coconut oil is a medium-chain saturated fatty acid. It's one of the few saturated fats that comes from a plant souce. Other saturated fats are found in animal products such as red meat, poultry, butter and whole milk.

Coconut oil has become popular as a natural remedy. Proponents of coconut oil say that coconut oil has the following benefits:

Coconut oil contains lauric acid and its derivative, monolaurin, which appear to have antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties.

It also contains medium chain triglycerides, which are not thought to be stored in the body like other oils and also may boost metabolism and promote weight loss.

Critics say, however, that coconut oil is a saturated fat, like butter, and should be avoided. There is also insufficient evidence from human studies showing it's effective.

If you are going to use coconut oil, follow these tips:

Don't buy hydrogenated coconut oil or oil that has been treated with solvents, bleach, or heat. A health food store is probably your best bet.

You will get the most lauric acid for your dollar with coconut oil rather than coconut milk. Three and a half tablespoons of coconut oil is equivalent to ten ounces of coconut milk. "Lite" coconut milk is low in fat and also low in lauric acid. And finally, coconut milk is processed differently than the oil and may not have the same effects.

Before you rush out to purchase your Coconut Oil, you should do some research to understand the risks and benefits.  I've included a couple of links for information, and one to aid you in an online purchase when you've made up your mind.

  2. I bought mine on line.

  3. Yes, supposedly it is a good type of saturated fat.  If you have a Whole Foods near you they have it for sure.  You can do a store search to find one near you.

  4. I get mine at Whole Foods or the Vitamin Cottage. If you have sunflowers I hear they also carry it.Good luck in finding it.

  5. GNC sells coconut oil capsules and the liquid oil. I found this website about an actual persons struggle with hair thinning and hair loss. They used virgin coconut oil on their scalp because they were going bald and their hair was also all gray. When they used the virgin coconut oil, not only did their hair grow back but it grew back black in color and not gray. From what i read the virgin coconut oil is supposed to stimulate the hair follicle and promote growth. Hope this helps. This is the website: www.aboutmyrecovery.com/2006/08/23/the-w...

  6. Not sure, but I seriously doubt that it works.  I'd do some research first.

  7. buy it online with www.ebay.com or www.amazon.com

  8. This is a first, I don't think it aids in hair loss or hair thinning. Bottom line is one's genetics plays a roll in hair loss & thinning of ones hair also one's health & nutrition also plays a role in that, I suggest that you look into getting a better multi vitamin supplement.

I grew up surround by coconuts & where I live theres people from other islands that uses its oil to their hair to just manage it, moisturize it & give it a shine & they also uses it in their daily life as food too. But still see some of them bald. Its a good moisturizer in lotions & soaps, also a tanning ingredient. As you know the coconut itself is fattening but taste good.
