Where can I find current events in the theatre (not movies just plays, acting, shows, broadway ect.) ?

For my drama class I have to turn in a paper every week on current events in theatre. I'm having a hard time finding things to write about. Im thinking about writing about The Princess Protection Program ( its a movie that is scheduled to air on Disney Channel in '09.) However, if I can find a better topic maybe I can save that idea for later. If anyone has any website links or anything it would be greatly appreciated!

First of all, movies (film) are not theatre.  Theatre requires a live audience and live actors existing in the same space/time and experiencing the moment together, breathing the same air.  Some theatre may use mediated action (like videos, recorded music, or microphone/sound amplification) but the whole point of theatre is the ephemeral quality of a work of art that doesn't last past the moment... even recorded live-action plays are not really "theatre" in the strictest sense because they are forever frozen on video.  That said, you should check to see if your papers can be about film or if it has to be about theatre. Trust me if you wrote a paper for me that was about a film and I was teaching a theatre class you would fail the paper even if it was good.

Second, find a library.  At that library there should be several journals and magazines about theatre.  Read articles.  

Third, on line there is http://www.tcg.org/ ... Theatre Communications Group... they publish a magazine called American Theatre -- it should be at the above-referenced library.  It contains up-to-date articles about contemporary theatre.

And again... theatre is not film... theatre is theatre.
