Best way is to design your own; that way you have total control over cost.

First; decide on destination and type of holiday.  Sort the flights outs; varying times and dates until you get the best deal.

Once you have the flight sorted; check availability of hotels and any internal transport required.  Just how difficult will it be to book while you're over there?

I tend to do the flights and book the first couple of nights - after that I wing it, booking as I go.  

This works on all but resort based holidays - where you can get pretty good packahes (Flight + hotel, etc).  It can be a tad risky if you're going peak season as well.Be aware of the costs of using your mobile to make arrangements as well.

I use Expedia, STA Travel and Opodo as a starting point.

Of course; checkout more mainstream resources as well so that you get a bench mark price to beat :-)

I got my tickets from travelparkland.com they are reasonable and well worth it.. you can get rental cars and hotels in a package too!!!!!

They find great deals from Thomson, Thomas Cook, Lastminute.com, etc, and list them on their site. And also offer exclusive discount codes. Well worth a look.
