Question:

Where can I find free Styrofoam Coolers?

Dear all,

I was wondering where I would be able to get free Styrofoam coolers for a project I am working on. I know that certain stores do sell them, but I am on a very tight budget (as a student I'm pretty much broke) so everything that will cut down cost is good =)

I am looking for a large box, preferably at least 2ft by 2ft. If you could provide me with suggestions on where to look, where to inquire, that would be great. Thank you in advance!

Thank you again for your help! It is much appreciated!

  1. All I can say is ask some friends. We're in a world where nothing is free. I had to buy one for about 5 bucks yesterday to keep some beer in by the pool. Sucks. 5 bucks for something thats worth like no more than a dollar.

    What a world.

  2. We received a gift set of Omaha steaks (a few years ago) and they came in a 2 by 3 foot insulated foam box in dry ice that sounds exactly like what you are looking for.

Is there a Flea Market or Penny Saver paper in your area?  If there is place an ad . . . telling them that you are looking to recycle styrofoam coolers for crafts . . .

Ask if you can post an index card at the Thrift Store . . . free.

Put an ad in Craigs List online . . . its everywhere . . .

  3. go to seven eleven they have them

  4. Try pet stores which sell fish.  Our local store gets a weekly delivery which come in bags in styro coolers to keep the temps correct for the fish.  You could also try freecycle in your area.  You never know who's got one to give away.  Also, anyone you know who might get frozen foods shipped to them (omaha steaks, etc) might have one from shipping.  Good Luck!!!
