  1. *****Ancestry.com.  They have California records for one.  Baptismal records can also be found on a number of sites, including Ancestry, it just depends on the year and area you are looking for.  You have to be a little more specific.

  2. The general rule concerning BIRTH records, especially recent ones, are that they are restricted/ confidential, and not free. There are some birth indexes online, mainly at ancestry.com (which again, is not free).. but these are indexes only, not the record itself.

If you are working to find birth records for genealogy.. then you are usually working with someone already dead, and the options open up somewhat. You don't mention the country.. UK does have a birth/marriage/death index.. I don't know the exact limitations on the time frames.

In the US.. what is 'out there' is going to depend on the state AND the time frame. You must define if you are looking for a RECORD of someone's birth, that can be in many formats.. or a birth CERTIFICATE itself.

There isn't any one place that has all birth records.. you have to define more exactly what you want, for anyone to provide the right place for what you need.

  3. For what location?  What time period?

  4. ask somebody that knows you since you were bron

  5. You have to pay from the County or from the State. I have purchased several. The prices vary. Your mom would have the only free one. You can copy it , but you need the stamp or seal to use it for a official document.
