Question:

Where can I find free embroidery patterns?

Specifically borders, or something that I could use as trim on a medieval/fantasy style dress.

It needs to be simple-ish, because I don't want to do anything mad-complicated since i'm embroidering all around the neck and the hem of the dress, as well as a bit on the sleeves, and that would be too much work if it's too complicated.

I really like Jacobean-ish style stuff.

  1. Have you tried the Dollarstitch yahoo group? there are hundreds of free designs, AND projects in their files area for the embroidery machine.. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Embroidery...

  2. have you tried "ann the gran" or artistic threadworks?

  3. Layed threads with the knots on them would be super cool on something like that.

I have always used coloring books for inspiration. How about looking at border quilting patterns? Have you thought how the borders lay in the quilting patterns?

that would probably work. http://www.quilting.about.com for some directions to go from here. They probably have lots of connections for you to go from there.

  4. Why do you ask? You never respond and NEVER choose a best answer. You just let it go to the VOTERS to decide.
