Preferably in North Austin, but . . .

  1. Actually, Tien Hong is closed now, unfortunately.

If you are looking for the soft noodles, it's usually called "lo mein" around here.  I know on the West Coast, what we call lo mein, they call chow mein.  Chow mein is the hard, crispy noodles, which is less popular, and harder to find.

  2. You can't. I lived in Austin 10 mos (from the Silicon Valley) and could not find a good chinese place ANYWHERE! That's why I left. Happy Hunting.

  3. I really like Fire Wok.  There is one in Sunset Valley shopping center on Brodie Lane.

    Good luck.

  4. One of the better Chinese restaurants in town is Tien Hong which is just a bit south of 183 on Burnet Road. You may also want to try Hwa Yaun which is off of 183 near Balcones Woods.

Both of these places have been around for years and aren't national chains or Asian fast-food.

    Good luck and happy eating!

***Update - I understand that you are looking for chicken chow mein, and since it is a rather typical offering, I am pretty sure that either of these locations will offer some variation of the dish. Cheers!
