I need them to be able to fit a grooming tote, so pretty big but pretty cheap.

  1. I have found the normal storage tubs from Walmart etc. to work but they can be too flimsy. I found that the plastic trunks they sell for putting in the back of pickup trucks work quite well. The metal ones are a bit too heavy but the plastic ones are cheap and very sturdy. I've shipped mine around the world and used them for just about everything! Just look in the Automotive department.

  2. You can find some plastic ones for $99 that are even big enough to hold a saddle.  They will be adequate for your tack but they do not seal well enough to keep out bugs.  Check out Valley Vet, Jeffers Equine and Country Supply (www.com).  then there's shipping charges of course.

  3. Home Depot has by far the closest thing to a tack trunk you are going to find.  Dimensions are similar to a large tack trunk. For only $60.  The trunk is made by Stanley tools, it's very sturdy black plastic, comes with a yellow tote tray that sits in the top, also has wheels on one end and a padded handle on the other. Plus, it comes with a lock & key and also has a place for  you to put your own padlock.

  4. i got a tool trunk from lowes that is perfect for EVERYTHING, plus it was only $60

  5. Go to Target or Wal-Mart and get a huge Rubbermaid tote with wheels. Then get smaller totes that fit inside it and voila! You've got yourself a portable tack room on wheels with customized compartments and accessories!

    OR...

    You can make one yourself:

  6. Go to a hardware store and get a big tool trunk.  They work great!!
