  1. One of the interesting aspects of travel is staying in private homes.

In many quarters families will rent a room and provide a continental breakfast.I did it in Florence, Venice, and Genoa. Also in Austria. Takes a little doing and inquiry but doable. In fact went to those places without reservations of any kind. But that was many years ago. Met interesting

    people.

Students had all the "ins." Depending on your time and the purpose, Meander to Istituto Americano [American Language Center]

The American Language Center is located in Piazza della Republic, near the world-famous Duorno. Strike up a conversation either with students or instructors. They will know what is happening.

Another, depending on where you will be, The Italian Art and Italian Language Institute in Florence [An old Convent]  teaching  Italian as a foreign language. The Institute is situated in the San Lorenzo quarter in the heart of the old part of the city, not far from the Medici Chapels and the famed central market area.

    And,

Do not miss the Uffizi Museum.
