Where can I find industrywise grouping / listing of Indian Companies?

I want to find out to which industry segment a particular company belongs. Where is this information available?

Top 8 Scrips to INVEST in 2008 when the Indian Stock Markets fall in July 2008 (BSE Sensex support will be 12,868.28 and NSE S&P CNX Nifty support will be 3,821.00):

1.Open this site  http://indiaearnings.moneycontrol.com  enter the name of company in Get quote textbox. this will open company's page.  At the bottom pf page you will find 'About the Company' here yuo can find Industry segment Name of that company.

2. open this site by clicking the link    http://www.moneycontrol.com/india/stockm...   here you will get names of all industry segments, click the name of any segment and you will get all companies belonging to that segment.

You can check for sector specific stocks here at

The example is for banking sector. You can change sectors by clicking on the drop down menu for Key sctor stocks and selecting another sector

Go to http://finance.yahoo.com/

enter the symbol of your company (if you dont know the smybol type the name in, a list of companies should come down, if the company isn't in the list use google to get the symbol)

once you are on the stock's page click on profile (just to the left and slightly up from the blue headlines bar)

In here you should be able to see: the sector, industry and, under business summary, what the company does. If this is a very tiny company Y! may not have the info, remember if all else fails there is always google.
