Hi, My Dog and a neighbors dog mated, she is pregnant, and about due any day now. She is so big! well anyways when I came to check up on her, she of course, ran out the house to see me, so we all ran to get her because she should not be outside... well when I picked her up she had a gush of water or pee come out, and a thick clear, cloudy mucus was hanging out of her, I thought for sure she was going into labor, but its been 3 days now and nothing she is just wanting alot of attention and is very tired... I want to find out info on the internet can you give me some links? or can you answer my question? of when about how much longer? or what exactly what this was?

thanks so much!

  1. It should happen any time now.

Why don't you call a vet and see if they could help, some say that you have to bring her in and that they can't give you any info on the phone, call around different vet's and see what they say.

She might need "help" delivering them some times small dogs have trouble.

  2. Whew, you're having a baby AND puppies.  Sounds a lot like work to me.

You didn't mention what day she's on since the breeding took place.  This info is important.  If a bi+ch carries puppies too long or has difficulty whelping there could be complications.

Have you taken her temperature over the past week?  This info is useful when it comes to determining when she'll actually deliver.

I'll assume you are uncertain of these details and suggest you get her in to the vet for an x-ray to determine exaclty how many puppies she's carrying along with an exam to figure out her current condition and possibly deliver the pups via c-section or a routine delivery.

And please make sure you closely screen every potential pet home prior to placing each pup.  Then take the sire, dam and the get to be neutered since it's obvious you really aren't experienced enough to handle this kind of situation and you must not have a mentor to offer guidance.

And please, show the dog some respect and work on the spelling.  It's Chihuahua.

  3. Take your dog to the vet. If she is trying to have her puppies and cant, it can kill her and all the puppies.

  4. What did she mate with?

Cloudy mucus could be normal, what else was she doing was she panting real hard? what was her temperature that day if was 98 degrees then yes she was in labor. I would call the vet and talk with them about it. good luck with your dog and her pups

  5. Google "whelping" and call a vet.  That gush sounds like an amniotic sac broke, and if that's the case a pup should have been born shortly afterward.  She could have dead pups inside her.  If the neighbor's dog is larger than she is, there's a very good chance the pups are too large to pass.  She needs a veterinary exam, an x-ray, and possibly a C-section.  She could die without proper care.  You should have asked this question and done your research as soon as you knew she mated.  I hope it isn't already too late.

  6. You have to count 58-65 days from the day they bred. You should have taken her to the vet, and had her checked. You should do that now to see how things are going. Your dog is a Chihuahua. You are likely to need a c-section done. You really need to take her to the vet. Nature will not take it's course.. You need to talk to the vet and find out what you can expect.
