  1. www.clhia.com - info on CDN insurance carriers and consumer friendly guides.

As for ratings, sites like www.standardandpoors.com or www.ambest.com list the ratings, but you usually need to be a paying member.

However, if you go to the website of the insurance company, they usually have a link showing their current ratings (eg:  http://www.manulife.ca/aaa  or  http://www.aiglife.ca/english/credit.asp...

  2. I have met similiar problem before, here is the information that I feel helpful..http://lifeinsurance.online-helpers.info...

  3. The only type of organization that I know that keeps that  type of data is the Better Business Bureau who maintains records on complaints filed against businesses. The two problems with the BBB is that it only keeps track of this type of data on businesses that are a member of the BBB, and I know of no Canadian insurer that is a member of the BBB. The second problem is that the BBB sells memberships to the companies that it tracks, therefore the member companies are sort of the BBB's customers. So the BBB is in a bit of a conflict of interest since they say they are trying to resolve consumer complaints while at the same time they are trying to placate the business so they will renew their membership. However I know of no other businesses, groups or websites that will provide that kind of information.
