OK, this is a long story but i'll try to make it as short as possible. My cousin lives in Massachusetts, her husband was hit by a drunk driver 4 years ago and it crushed his legs; his feet were completely shattered and he can barely walk. They have a 17 month old daughter that was born with a medical condition. She's had 10 surgeries, has spent from 2 days to 5 months in the hospital. The husband works 7 days a week so his wife can stay home 24/7 with their daughter. He has put off foot surgery because he cannot afford to take the time off from work. They were receiving Social Security, but somehow wound up having to pay back almost $800 so they cancelled it. They do get food stamps but thats it.

They are the most amazing family in the world, but they are in debt & because of the constant stress they are all mentally and physically drained.

So my question is, how can I get them money from the state or charities or grants or anything? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I live in Massachuesetts too this state is so darn expensive fortuntaly there is a ton of help. since they get food stamps that part is taken care of at least they have that. they can also if they don't have it apply for WIC it's mostly for babies food and things like that (not diapers) but formula and things. in Mass you have to have health insurance if they are paying I recommend them going with Mass health or CommonWealth Care they are both state provided free health insurance. They can also apply for section 8 that helps them pay for rent if they live in a apartment.

  2. They need to file for disability  benefits  through  SRS  they can also talk to a social worker  at the hospital  that will assist them in getting benefits for the Childs medical conditions
