  1. Local Harvest has the largest database of small sustainable and organic farmers in the USA.

    http://www.localharvest.org

  2. www.attra.org

    national program for sustainable ag.

they have books listing all organic producers and processors contact addresses and phone numbers for each state. the info might be available on their website as well. this would be a good place to look if you want to buy locally straight from a farm and locate a certified processor.

  3. Call your county Farm Bureau and ask them about any farmers that may be in the area.  Also check with your extension office and ask if the ag advisor may know of any farms or markets available.  The extension office is usually listed under the University of __________ (insert your state) Extension.  Worth a try.  Good luck.

  4. I am in the Nebraska food network.  There is also one in Iowa and Oklahoma.  There are plenty of farmers who would love your business.  If you are from West Virginia, you might be near a friend of mine in Swoop Virginia.  Joel Salatin at Polyface farm.  He is not certified because he feels that the Feds have watered down the standards to the point that they dont  mean anything anymore, but he is customer inspected and a leader in the sustainable ag movement.

  5. I beleive there is a data base out there for Certified Organic producers maintained by the states.  Your state should have one.
