I have a 2 year old gateway laptop that works perfectly fine, but I had to get a new one for work. I want to donate the computer but I was wondering which charity would be the best to give to. Hopefully the computer is not too old. Any ideas?

  1. Go to

    www.craigslist.com

Then go to the free  section and put it up there.......People will call you

  2. You have to be careful if you live in CA.  Most of our organized charities can no longer take any type of electronics, including computers because they are considered hazardous waste.  That being said, both Best Buy and Circuit City have programs where they have joined with local high school and college trade tech programs to take in used computers, upgrade, repair and restore them for use in low income schools.  Ours is held twice a year in autumn and spring.  Maybe yours is doing the same, contact one of them to see where the donation drop off points are.  They will give you a donation slip for the IRS, but you have to ask for it.
