When I play cassettes, there is a high pitch sound that comes out of the speakers within the music that is playing at random times. I have checked the wires, etc. and re-attached them, fixed frayed wires...but nothing!!

  1. Your still playing cassettes?  You know they came out with Compact Discs right?

As for information on fixing it,  that would be a service manual that you would get from the manufacturer.  But if your not an electronics technician, I don't know how much good it will do you.

  2. This does not SOUND (pun)

like a speaker problem, but a

BIAS FILTER  issue and/or lack of

    NOISE REDUCTION CIRCUIT issue

    with the tape player.

Tape to Tape Head Alignment can also

increase or decrease the level of hiss.

It could even be a dying receiver,

as capacitors leak and give off noise

    as they begin to fail.

And tapes exposed to electrical circuits

    and magnetic fields (poor storage)

    can pick-up noises that can

degrade if not destroy the signal on the tape

and if played back it can

do damage or destroy audio components,

    speakers, and even your ears!

But I think it is most likely to be a

    Tape Recorder/Player BIAS Filter Issue!

    and cassettes are kinda old-school,

    maybe check out LPs

    and loose the HISS!

    HISSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
