Where can I find information on how to fix a aquaterra spectrum kayak.?

My brother recieved a aquaterra spectrum kayak as a tip from a customer. (used) and theres a crack in it and some peddles for something does anyone know where I can find information on this wonderful boat thingy. THANX

Is the boat plastic or fiberglass?  Can you describe where the crack is?  Fiberglass boats can develop what are called "gel cracks" in the surface of the boat. They are more of a cosmetic issue rather than a structural one.  

Plastic boats are another case.  In either situation, I'd take the boat to a paddle shop (not d**k's sporting goods or REI, but a REAL paddlesports shop) and have someone look at it.  They'll be able to either fix it themselves, or guide you to someone who can.

The peddles inside are for controlling the rudder on the back of the boat.  The rudder helps the boat to go straight in winds and currents.   The paddle shop can explain how those work too.

The boat was built by Perception.  It is a cross between a recreation boat and a touring boat.  The peddles are for a rudder that may have been removed.  I believe it is a rotomolded polyethylene plastic construction and if it is then the crack can be welded by someone with the equipment and knowhow.  Pretty inexpensive fix when you find someone to do it.
