Question:

Where can I find online 2 1/2" corner blocks for my baseboard?

I only need eight inside corners and four outside corners. They are 90 degree corners. I haven't had any luck at any stores, even Home Depot and Lowe's. Maybe I'm calling them by the wrong name. I am installing baseboards in my home and would like the corners to have a block on them that stands a bit above the baseboards. I think it looks nicer than just having the baseboards touch. Most recently built homes have them. Any ideas? And a website would be great. I have seen websites where they are discussed but not one where I can order them from.

  1. Try the website below. Click on blocks, corner and base and/or mouldings, blocks, etc.

  2. Its often called 'miterless' trim.  The individual pieces have their own names, but that is how the 'system' is often referred to.  They were actually quite common for a time with older homes, because all you had to do were straight cuts... made it easy for anyone to tackle, not just trim/finish carpenters, hehehe.

A 'rosette' would be the square piece often used at the top corners of doorways, or around window frames.

A 'plinth' block would be the flat piece used at the base molding, bottom of jambs, etc.... you can actually get a variety of sizes.

And a 'corner' block would be the piece you'd find at inside, or outside, corners of either base, or chair rail mouling.

Some hardware stores will carry a few of these items in stock, as well as Lowe's.  It's usually a SMALL display, hehehe, and very easy to walk right by it

Ive often had the humorous duty of showing a store clerk where the item I was looking for was stocked...hehehe
