The idea came to me from a WWII documentary which explained how US households saved bacon grease to be recycled into glycerin for the war effort.

  1. You can recycle it at home by using it in your cooking. Used to be standard practice to save bacon grease and cook with it. If you look at old recipes you will often see they call for lard, it adds a certain flavor nothing else will.

  2. Suet is cow fat. Bacon grease is lard.

Technology has come along way since WW2. Seen any watches with radium on the dials lately?

There are some really interesting articles on the Internet about the topic of "animal fat bio diesel."

I think there is a business opportunity for someone in each town to have light vehicles to have routes, days and times to pick up used cooking oils from residential areas.

In sources below is a good article on the subject of new companies and ventures to utilize such resources.

  4. That is right because at 77 I was there....

  5. Why not make soap out of it your self? It's easy and fun to do. give them away for gifts if you like.

  6. Why not use it to make suet to feed the birds? You can find recipes on the internet.

Some companies collect waste oil and grease and dispose of it or use it to control dust on dirt roads but they won't pick it up from you unless you have a lot of it, plus they would charge a fee. Making suet is a good deed for wildlife and won't cost much.
