I recently read in the book Petrodollar Warfare that the military-industrial complex as well as oil and banking companies finance Presidential campaigns, basically making them their servants.

  1. Wall street

  2. Their own campaigns and the federal election commission. All candidates are legally required to publicly report all donations to their campaigns.

But if you really want to research you should also look at the 501c3 organizations. The include the likes of Move On and Swift boat groups. Their financing is much less restricted and regulated.

  3. Don't be surprised to find sources hedging their bets on both sides.

  4. Right here. I sent McCain money yesterday. I hope everyone else will as well.

  5. Check out a great site:

    http://www.opensecrets.org/

There are lots of breakdowns of campaign contributions on this site, but here is one I like.

    http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/donord...

It shows that Obama has received about half his money from people donating less than $200, while McCain has reacived only 1/4 of his money from such contributors.
