Where can I find - "On This Day" information?

Question

I'm doing a scrapbook for my boyfriend for his birthday, and I need some information from the day he was born (6th August 1988) but I can't find anything.

All I can find are historical dates, which are completely irrelevant.

I need information on how much things cost, what was number 1 in the film and music charts etc.

If anyone can help that would be great! XD

What date are you looking for specifically or decade?

Edit: I found this link on the 1940's decade and it has a lot of info. If this is what you are looking for I did the search on "1940's economic" and you may be able to do the search like that for each decade.

Edit: I also found by searching "prices of the 1940's" this website, I am sure you can do it for each decade probably even for the 1800's.
