I have already been accepted to a college and have received school scholarships, state scholarships and pell grants, but still owe a small amount of tuition, where can I find more local and state scholarships that could cover my tuition without having to take out a loan?

  1. I agree with the poster above me, look for local opportunities, places you have a personal and direct link to. Make a list of all of the people and agencies, organizations and businesses you have contact with.

Your local credit union or bank, the community center or health club your folks belong to, the church you belong to or the girl scout troop you are a part of?  What about the grocery store or Blockbuster you go to every week for the past four years?  Sometimes even your high school has scholarships for graduating seniors through scholarships that have been set up in someones name.

Make a summary sheet of your accomplishments and how much exactly you need.  Start talking to folks and give them your sheet.  You never know!!!

    Good Luck.

  2. Good Luck this is the answer every high school and college student will want to know too! I have a few suggestions because my daughter just started college and was granted over $13,000 in scholarships. Some of the ones she applied for were from:

Our Credit Union, Our insurance company, our jobs, her part-time job, the local rotary club (she won $10,000 from them for community service), the college awarded her several scholarships for community service. Try your local grocery stores and car dealerships.

Good Luck, I know it's hard to find scholarship locally but they are out there. We are still looking too!
