On mypetchicken.com, you used to be able to buy bantam silkie chickens, spesifically blue ones. That page is no longer available. Is there another website you know of that sells them? Especially in California/Sacramento?

  1. Look up backyardchickens. if you go through the site you'll find a forum and other links of places to buy them.

  2. There are severa hatcheries to order from,Im not sure where they are all located.Try www.welphatchery.com or www.cacklehatchery.com or www.mcmurrayhatchery.com . hope that helps

  3. For pets or for show? Chicks or adults?

Pet-quality chicks: You can order them from several hatcheries. I can not recommend one hatchery over another myself because I raise all my own birds, but you can find several at feathersite.com. If you do order them, you have to order a minimum of 25 and they are mixed males and females.

I believe in your area, though not online, there is a bird swap-meet in Stockton where you might get lucky.

Show-quality chicks: Not easy, most breeders do not want to sell chicks because they are looking to raise them until they are large enough to determine which they want to keep. However, if you go to

    http://www.americansilkiebantamclub.org/

and check for a member in your area.

Adult birds: Again, your best bet is to find a breeder. I raise blues, but I am about 3 hours away from you. There may be others closer to you, so again, go to the American Silkie Bantam Club website. Some have pet quality birds for sale, but even those can be pricey. I sell pet quality birds for $10, roosters for $5, but breeder quality for $30-$50. I can not speak for others, but I believe the breeder quality price is probably close to the same.

    Cheers
