  1. buy a plant

  2. Epping Forest, although technically in Essex, is still part of the Greater London Area.  Take the Central Line north to Loughton (3 stops from the end, takes about 25 minutes from Liverpool St Stn).  It's a short walk to get right in to the heart of the forest.

Or, from Loughton station you can take the bus: Take either the 20 or 167 (both in the direction of Debden), up through the town's high street, and up the hill to just past the garage and Homebase store.  Get off at Homebase before the bus turns right. Keep walking in the direction the bus was going before you got off (up the hill) go past the stores (Post Office on your left) and the forest starts on your left.  There are numerous places to enter it, and there are still a few residential streets as well, but if you keep heading that way, you can't miss it.

You'll find loads of others walking through on a nice day, and most have small town friendliness -- so you can stop and ask them how to get back out, or how to get further in, and they will answer nicely!

  3. Regent's park

  4. Go to the lake district,

  5. no idea

  6. Try Hampstead heath.  I used to go there all the time.  You don't necessarily forget you're in a major city, but it's beautiful and restful in a way that many of the central parks are not.

  7. ive been looking for the greens too

  8. Hyde Park

    Clapham Common

    Wimbledon Common

    Putney Common

    Bishops Park (Fulham)

    Wandsworth Park (Putney)

    Wandsworth Common (Battersea/Clapham)

    Battersea Park (Battersea)

...and numerous parks all over this great city of London.

  9. You can find information on London's numerous parks at this website.

http://www.royalparks.org.uk/ a personal favourite of mine being St. James Park.

There also several 'inner city farms all around London:

These really are great retreats for children and adults alike.

You may also wish to try the well kept secret of the London Wetland Centre in Barnes, just south of Hammersmith.

Maybe surprisingly behind the busy centre of Tottenham is a nationally connected waterway system which has recently been helped enormously by volunteer work leading up to the 2012 Olympics. This is a real heaven for wildlife and more information can be found on this website:

    Hope this helps.

  10. Go to Blackheath, Regents Park, Chealsea Physic gardens, Kew Gardens all of these are peaceful, beautiful and back to nature. Also Battersea park is very good.

  11. Easy, go to the nearest zoo in London.  Believe me, you won't even smell like a city-person afterwards
