On yahoo email it is at the bottom of the page.

There are all kinds of spell checkers out there. I like the one that's attached to the newest version of the internet browser Firefox 2.0. It can be turned on and off easily. Get it at mozilla.org

Yahoo's competitor Google also has a spell check on its toolbar. It's not automatic but must be clicked on each time, like the spell checker here.
