Question:

Where can I find stuff about playing tuba and humming?

I was at a "masterclass" for learning to play the tuba better. It was rather interesting, then, at the end of the class, the instructor felt like showing off. He played a song in which he hummed while he played. This allowed him to play chords on the tuba. It sounded really cool. It was a rock song. Awesome on the tuba. I was fascinated.

I messed with it for a while, and got the hang of it. Once you get the muscle memory, it's all to easy.

Anyway, I thought I'd look a little more into it, got on google and.....realized I had no clue what to call it. What term would describe it? I would love to learn more about this, and the instructor talked about a guy who composed music based on this form.

Can anyone direct me?

  1. I suggest look up tuba, tuba lessons, music or music lessons on the net. The other way is to ask your teacher that would be easier, do you think? After all that is why the teacher is there, to help you!  Otherwise go to a local store which sells instruments and them may direct you to some one. Good luck!

  2. Interesting question! Look up Didgeridoo  . The technique of subvocalizing is don't all the time with the Didge!

    This is interesting too ::
