  1. The government does not issue credit reports and scores are not free.

annualcreditreport.com is the official web site of the three credit reporting agencies.  You are entitled to one report for free every year (12 months) unless you are denied credit.  You can either call the three agencies individually (the web site will have their toll free number) or fill out the form on the web site.  They will send you your credit report.

  2. Go to https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/i...

Note there is no "my" in this address.  It's free for the credit reports of the 3 agencies (TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax).  You have to obtain them one at a time.  CREDIT SCORES are not free.  If you need that, you have to pay.  One company charges a dollar less than the other two but they are all around $6 or $7.

The GOVERNMENT has nothing to do with your credit report or your credit score.

    Good luck to you.

  3. 1. Annualcreditreport.com is the ONLY place to get your federally-mandated free credit reports.

    2. There is NO law requiring you to get free FICO credit scores. If you want them, you will have to pay for them.

    3. The scores offered with your free credit reports are worthless add-ons. The only score worth purchasing is your FICO score. You can get that from MyFico.com, but you will have to pay for three of them...one for each bureau report.
