I hate to see my old car from when I was a kid crushed, but the local metal crusher is paying quite for metal. I do not want to tow it before I have an idea what it weighs.

  1. there should be a sticker in the door jamb that says GVW(or something like that)and has the weight posted right in there.

  2. Its a sure bet that if it was built in the 60's and is a full size model, it will weigh between 3000-4500lbs. 70's cars are a little harder to guess, as they had lots more compacts and smaller models, likely 2500-3500lbs. Year, Make and Model would help, check online clubs and forumns.

  3. There are a few places that you can find this info:

    1. look at the registration (if you have one) - passenger cars have their weight printed on the registration.

    2. look at the title.

    3. look in the driver's side door, if it's still there, there's a manufacturer's sticker there with the vehicle's weight printed on it.

    4. take it to a weigh station and have it weighed.
