I did this puzzle about two years ago and I it was like..."24=h in a d", which would be.."24=hours in a day". There was a whole bunch of them like this and could anyone tell me what they're called and what website has free printable ones on it? Thanks.

  1. Macla Xmas quiz – 2003

Below are some common phrases involving numbers. The answers will be given in the next newsletter and will also appear on the MACLA website (www.macla.co.uk) after Christmas.

Try to figure out what the letters stand for. The first one has been done for you as an example:-

    1. 24 H in a D - 24 Hours in a Day

    2. 1,001 A. N.

    3. 52 C in a P

    4. 7 W of the A.W.

    5. 26 L in the A

    6. 11 P on a F.T.

    7. 12 I in a F

    8. 29 D in F in a L.Y.

    9. 5 G.R.

    10. 18 H on a G.C.

    11. 8 P in a G

    12. 66 B in the B

    13. 7 C in a R

    14. 100 D.C. – T at which W.B.

    15. 13 in a B.D.

    16. 16 O in a P

    17. 40 D and N of the G. F.

    18. 9 P in the S.S.

    19. 13 S on the A.F.

    20. 64 S on a C.B.

    21. 4 W on my W

    22. 3 W. M.

The first time I saw a list like that was in Games magazine about 30 years ago.  The first one in that list was, I think, "26 L in the A" (letters in the alphabet).
