  1. I agree with the previous answerers, white houses can be found in the islands, it's the characteristic of the island architecture and this is mainly because of the climate. In Northern Greece the architecture is different. If you really want to see amazing white - blue houses you should definitely visit Santorini, Mykonos, Lindos ( Rhodes)  etc

  2. Hi!

As I've spend almost all of my living years in Northern Greece (all except 3), I can asure you that this kind of characteristics don't exist in N.Greece.

In N.Greece you can find stonebuilt villages, with stone roofs, beautiful arcitectural complexes but not "whitewashes" villages...

  3. White-washed houses and consequently villages are mainly on the Aegean Islands. On the mainland there are only separate houses that you may see. The most picturesque are on the islands.

  4. Northern old Greek houses are very similar to the stone houses in Bulgaria. White washed on on the islands around Santorini/ Paros ...etc

  5. I have to agree with all of you and i really appreciate the way thinks are done in Greece as far as construction  that blends perfectly with the  environment.

In the islands the stonewashed effect against the Blue sky and sea is incredible.

At the same time the stone houses that they build in the North they blend so well with the mountains. So yes the islands for the stonewashed houses, like Santorini Lindos in Rodos ,breathtaking.

  6. Any thing above attica..thats the county athens is in...changes due to weather and typographical changes...it get much colder as you go up towards the albanian border ..hence you wont find the white wash villages..but what you will find is very large houses  which have been arround for 500 years they are much larger than your typicall greek white wash villages...the only place you might find white wash villages  north of attica would be in CORFU.. or maybe at ITHICA they are the western islands of greece in the adriactic sea,,but if you want the typical postcard greekwhite washed villages..your best bet is any greek island in the  agean sea...
