Looking for some place/person willing to translate the odd sentence or paragraph into Swiss German dialect - preferably Basel-Deutch. Any ideas?

  1. Try babelfish.com

  2. try to find somebody in basel to translate the staff for you. you know that there is a difference between basel-stadt and basel-land, right?!

  3. Try contacting a university that teaches it, just searched on google and it doesn't look like the translation sites offer this although freetranslation.com does translate Dutch - might give you a general idea.

  4. You'll be hard pressed to find a website to translate English to Basel-Deutch. I found one could order a cassette tape on how to speak Swiss German, but it sounded like Bern-Deutch to me. I lived in Baselland, (which has a different dialect that Basellstadt, but I can't tell the difference) for half a year, but I still could not get the hang of it. I know of a Bible school with Basel Deutch speaking workers...

  5. When I have to translate from German to English I usually use this page:

    http://dict.tu-chemnitz.de/

you'll have to change the "drop down" menue beneath "Grammatik" from DE - EN to EN - DE..

If it's just for fun, hey, I found very funny links. Check them out:

    http://www.notam02.no/~hcholm/altlang/ht...

    You'll impress your friends..

  6. put in English to Swiss dictionary into your website and it will come up with the translations you may need.
