  1. It would have come in the box with the camcorder.

    It is NOT the only software compatible with your camcorder.

    You need to transfer using a firewire cable with that miniDV camcorder. You need to install a firewire port on that computer - cheap and easy to do if you have an available PCI slot (desktop) or PCMCIA slot (laptop).

    Once you get Firewire working on your computer, connect the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer with a fire wire cable. Firewire, IEEE1394 and i.Link are all the same thing. When the camcorder is connected, powered up and in the "play/edit" mode, import using MovieMaker.

    USB will not work.
