Question:

Where can I get a cheap and reliable Medical Alert card or bracelet?

It's been recommended to me my various doctors and individuals that I get a Medical Alert card of some sort. I want one that lists both medical conditions and allergies, since I have my fair share of both. I'd also prefer one that lets me list what I have instead of picking from a list of conditions. Thanks!

  1. there is one you can get that will link in with your medical notes, i cant remember the name! I will ask my family and edit my answer when i find out! I do know that one of my friends carries an A4 print out page with her conditions in the print

  2. If you have any kind of health insurance, you should be able to get one through them. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield and I got a Emergency Patient Information card free through them. Check with your insurance company.

  3. ebay has no frills items

I had a bracelist that simply said 'see wallet card" and than I made a homemade card by printing out the medic alert symbol and gluing it to a card---

when I did have an emergency--my boyfriend remembered that I had teh card in my pocket--And they did look for it....

  4. www.medicalert.org

This one is really the best. You get a bracelet or necklace, an ID card and a sticker to place in the windshield of your car.

They maintain a computer database of all your medical information, from health insurance to a living will. Medical personnel can call Medic Alert to obtain pertinent information should you be incapacitated. Medic Alert also supplies more in-depth information regarding a health condition than other companies do.

I'm a long-time member of Medic Alert. I have never had a problem. Updates are easy to make and the yearly fees are minimal. A basic emblem is included with yearly fees but they have a vast array of bracelets and necklaces that are quite fancy. They even have sport watches.

  5. Check with the local pharmacy.

  6. There is cheap, there is effective, and there is cheap and effective.

Medic Alert is a company that registers you and your bracelet and keeps up-to-date information on file about you. There are a wide variety of bracelets and necklaces to choose from at all different prices.

About the same price for the bracelet - and you put on it exactly what you want.

When my son was little - I just engraved a dog tags with the info needed - a lot cheaper. I put them on the zipper pulls of his coats in winter and on the his shoes in summer.
