  1. All good answers, missing is Calvert school. They have pre-kindergarten - 8th curriculum. They send you everything including school supplies in the box with your curriculum.

  2. Christian Liberty Press offers an affordable kindergarten homeschool curriculum; the link is below:

If you are looking for a more hands on type of curriculum, "My Father's World" has a good one:

    I hope this is helpful.

  3. We used Abeka for my son's K year and it worked out well.

    Some other good providers are:

    http://www.bjupress.com

    http://www.aop.com

    http://www.rodandstaffbooks.com

Here are some literature or project-based companies:

  4. A "curriculum" at that age (I would say at any age) is to shade away all the natural enthusiasm you child has for learning.

Just play with her, read aloud, go places, answer her questions, give her good picture books with easy to learn stories, make crafts projects, let her help in the kitchen, shopping and doing house chores.

If you homeschool is because you don't want to do exactly the same they do at school, right?

A curriculum may force her into a "box" and you want her to think for herself, think outside the box.

  5. Look into K12 along with the other suggestions.  But *first* find out your child's learning style, *then* research curricula that fits that style.  It's a waste to purchase a curriculum that won't meet your child's needs.  The whole point of HS'ing is to do that.

Anyway, we've used K12 for five years, since right after my son turned 5.  He started with a mix of Kdg-2nd grade based on his placement tests.  K12 teaches to *all* types of learners, so there is "something for every body".  Lessons have different ways to meet the objectives and you use the one that works best for your child.  Or you even think outside the box and do something differently - like shouting out spelling words while jumping on a trampoline :-).

We've always used K12 as independent HS'ers, free from any virtual academy/school.  Many people think a virtual [public] school is the only way to use K12.  Wrong.  The direct purchase option is called "Consumer Direct".  We order it just like we would Abeka, Sonlight, etc.

  6. That first answer has a great list. One not on there is http://www.sonlight.com .

  7. We did Accelerated Christian Education its laid out in half day activities. Very phonics based with songs and animals to help them relate sounds. Lots of memory work.He was reading before I knew what was happening very back to basics approach and not a bad price

  8. Edited:  Five in a Row is a lot of fun.

For kindergarten most want to do things the relaxed way.    Read together, play together, colour and play with play doh, take walks, talk about the seasons, etc.

Kindergarten is a very fun year to homeschool.   I loved that age!

  9. If your looking for a complete curriculum then Sonlight is awesome. What I'm doing is just the basics. I bought a wookbook for math and phonics from Walmart for about 10 bucks and we are using Learn to read in 100 easy lessons. Mostly its play around here for him and trips to whereever we can find to go. Answering lots of questions and expermenting with his older sister.
