  1. http://www.statelinetack.com/itemdy00.as...

  2. I've never seen a bareback pad that has a breast collar.  Nice pads can be obtained from www.Parelli.com or www.jeffersequine.com

  3. try www.statelinetack.com or www.countrysupplies.com or try your local tack store

  4. Emily J has a link to a good one! It looks neat too! It also looks pretty safe and doesn't look like it could slip off either!

  5. It's probably easier and safer to just make one, with a saddle pad and a surcingle.  You can buy a cheap nylon Western breastcollar (and good for you for asking about one - all bareback pads, surcingles and other tree-less items NEED breastcollars, always!) and attach it that way.  A lunging surcingle is a lot more secure and less flimsy than your typical girth found on a bareback pad.

I like riding without a bareback pad myself, but a lot of the time you NEED to use one - to protect both you and your horse's back.  If your horse feels bony to you, imagine how your seat bones must feel to him!  Good luck - there are lots of cute saddle pads out there in a much wider selection than there are bareback pads.

  6. dude, bareback pads are a waste of money. they're dangerous (both with, and without stirrups), and in my opinion awkward.

sorry. years ago, i just HAD to have one. all i wound up with was a sore a*s when the darned thing slid around despite the really tight girth. needless to say, i wound up in the dirt. it wasn't so fun. i havn't used it since, but it has made a nice cat bed for the barn kitties.

  7. I agree with the first poster.. I don't believe bareback pads are safe. There's no elastic give on (most) of them, and despite tightening a pad very tight, it still has a tendency of slipping around. I've seen too many horses spook and rear, and the rider ends up sliding backwards with the pad. The rider lands on their behind / back behind a spooking horse/pony, and the horse/pony freaks out because now there's some unknown object wrapped around their hind legs. :( Sorry

  8. This is where I got mine. Ballards.  You can't see them on here. But I picked out what color I wanted. The girth, breast collar & saddle bags sewn in. You can get without the saddle bags. But I trail ride, so then it holds my water. I got mine for 40.00$. I love it!!
