Where can I get a decent pair of contacts?

Guys, my eyes are pretty bad. I've been wearing my glasses for about 10 years and never tried contacts before. Now I've moved to a new place where there is a lot of sunshine. Apparently I need to wear sunglasses, which means I need to go for contacts. I heard the price of eye contacts varies a lot, depending on which store I'm gonna to to. Like Walmart and Walgreens offer one pair of contacts combined with eye examination for only $100, while some local store here in my town would charge $300 or even more for the same job. My insurance doesn't cover this, so I am really looking for some place where I can get decent eye contacts with affordable prices. What do you guys recommend? Walmart is fine? Is its stuff safe? Any other nice places? Let me know, thanks

  1. First of all, you don't need contacts just to wear sunglasses.  All you need is a pair of prescription sunglasses.

However, if you do want to try contact lenses for other reasons, it's not something you can skimp on to save money.  Contact lenses can be either disposable, or designed to be used for longer periods of time (like 2 weeks, or a month), but in any case, one pair of contacts will only just get you started!   Costwise, they will equate to the cost of glasses for about the first 6-8 months or so.  After that, they become more expensive (than glasses) because you have to keep replacing them.  In addition, you must use a cleaning/soaking/storing solution, and probably rewetting drops, both on an ongoing daily basis.
