Where can I get a diagram for a standard phone jack?

It's in my bedroom & I need to get the wires on th right terminals

  1. It depends of the country where you are.

    Anyway. Jack wires are colored black, red, green, yellow. For standard home phones, only the red and green are used. If in case your jack has wires with different colors, just do a trial and error. Select the pairs(two wires) that can produce a dial tone. Don't worry, telephone lines can be reversed.

  3. Red & Green is line 1. Yellow & Black is line 2. If the jack has other colered wire, line 1 is white/blue-blue/white pair. Line 2 is white/orange-orange/white pair. The rest of the pairs in squence is the greens, browns, slates. (grey)

  4. Here is a link for a pretty good diagram.  There are so few wires generally speaking you can just try them all in different combinations an probably get it right in a few tries.
