  1. Where are you? In Canada your landlord has to give you a signed rental agreement by law. It is probably the same wherever you are.

  2. DSS is not going to accept any agreement not signed by the landlord.  They needs YOURS, not just any ol' lease.

  3. Try LectLaw.com   below is a link to a rental agreement.  Remember you get what you pay for and depending upon what state you live in certain clauses may or may not be legal in your state.

It is a contract so both parties must sign to make it valid.  If your landlord won't give you a lease what makes you think he'll sign one that you give him?

  4. Your landlord is obligated to give you a copy of your signed rental agreement.  It is the law.

  5. Do you HAVE a lease with this landlord, or are you month to month without a written lease ?  If you have a written lease, you should also have a copy of what you signed when you rented.  If you have no written lease, DSS is not going to accept something not signed by your landlord.  If you're thinking of 'forging his signature', you're asking for MAJOR trouble, because a copy of that fake lease will end up back in the hands of your landlord, who will probably contact DSS and inform them that he didn't sign it.

Do you know what welfare fraud is all about, and the penalties involved ?
