Where can I get a free website URL/domain name? ?

Question

I don't want a subdomain, or to have to pay for it. If it's got anything like .wetpaint.com or .21.com I don't want it. I want a web site that's like say: www.froogle.com but with a differient name. Also, I'm cheap so I don't want to spend a penny. 10 points to the best answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ute for one year u get it free but then they start charging u. Dude u can't get a short domain name for life for free. The best it gonna get is http://ucoz.com

You can't find it for free. You can pay $10 for it at: http://www.goldpuma.com and get it hosted with a free web host. Best way!

The only place to get a domain name, regardless of the agent you get it through, is ICANN.  ICANN charges for EVERY domain name, so you can't get one for free - *someone* has to pay for it.

(There are some island nations in the Pacific and some small African countries that may still be offering free domain names, but they don't end with .com or .net - they end with the country identifier - one that almost no one has heard of.  And you're limited in what you can put on your site.)
