Question:

Where can I get a glass fish tank?

I have 2 gerbils and they wre currently housed in a large hamster cage. I knew this wouldn't last when I bought it, and it was only a temporary home. They've chewed away at most of the plastic things inside their cage, so i decided now is the time to get them a new home.

I wanted to get them a fish tank to live in and would have done when I first got them.

HOWEVER

The tank cannot be more than 12 inches tall as it is positioned under a cupboard.

I've looked in pet shops, they SAY it's 12 inches in height, but is always just a little more, it has to be EXACTLY or under 12 inches tall.

Can anybody help me?

England only, please.

  1. Gerbils hate being caged, let them roam free around the house, they will be much happier

  2. Clink on the link below:

Too look at fish tanks or

  3. good will pet store

  4. It's not likely you will find a glass tank that height, it's really too shallow for keeping fish and that's what it supposed to be designed for.

The other thing is gerbils can jump that distance, so it would need a secure hood and rodents like to use the corners as a toilet which makes them awkward to clean properly without chemicals.

You could try your local glaziers to see if they would knock you out a custom build, but a regular cage might be your only answer.

  5. I think it would be very unsanitary to keep them in a fish tank.  There is NO ventilation.

  6. try more pet shops then :S x
