I want a pretty nice car for that money! Where can I find one?

Do police auctions really work?

What about Lien sales?

Do you trust those places?

  1. You can find good deals on cars at police auctions.  A lot of times the government will sell cars they have seized from criminals at police auctions and you can get them for really good prices.  There are some held in every state.

  2. AT a police auction, you will get a car that a drug dealer, a police officer and a municipal mechanic beat the living **** out of....... I still say craigslist is your best bet, if you cant find what you are looking for, maybe your expectations are too high, you really cant get alot for 1500 anymore, the 200 dollar cars of yesterday are now the 1500 dollar cars of today

  3. Pretty nice car for $1500? Put the joint down now!

Hard to say, since you didn't even say where you live.

  4. A bunch of folks are going to tell you E-bay, Auctions, and a bunch of other means but the very best place for the amount of money is your local news paper. If you went to a car lot and they have a car that says $2,000 they will sell It for $1800, If on the other hand you find a car listed for $2000 in the paper they more often than not will take $1500 for it.

note: Some have suggested that you go to the police auction to buy many of these vehicles have been brought in from the side of the road because they were broke down and the person that owned them didn't feel that the vehicle was worth going back for or would not pay the tow in and storage fee, if you are real crafty and are inclined to take junk and turn it back into a good running car then I would suggest that you stay away from the auctions. Think about this, "why aren't you and I fighting over a car at the auction if it is so good?" I have been in the car business for over 50 years and I don't buy cars for resale at the Police auction, I also wopuld not suggest you getting some one to go to the dealers auction either they will charge you and they can't even start the car up and keep in mind there is some reason for the car to be at the auction. do as I said or come down and I will sell you a car that is worth $1200 and ask $1800 and get $15-1600 for it.

  5. I think the best place would be the old fashion way with the newspaper. Its a bit more hunting but I've got stunning results with less money. They had a $500 and under car section as well I believe. But that will more then likely just get you an old junker.

  6. Find a car that is for sell off the side of the street.  Don't worry about the sticker, money talks.  If you have 1500 in hand, most people will take it for a vehicle they're asking 3k for.
