Where can I get a good customer service/clerical job in Lawrence,Kansas?

I have moved back to my home state of Lawrence,Kansas after 30 years and have had no luck finding employment.I am wanting to return to work field.Any leads will help me

  1. There are always fewer jobs in a small city than in a big one, so you have to accept that fact going in.  And let's face it:  The economy is in a serious downturn, so hiring is slow.

    But the university would be a good employer, so if you haven't looked there, you certainly should.  They hire tons of clerical workers.  They even have jobs for which a customer service background would be useful, such as the registrar's office or student accounts.  

    Meanwhile, I noticed just now that there are a few customer service and clerical jobs advertised in the classified section of the Lawrence Journal World & News, and that's just on a Thursday.  If the LJ World is like other newspapers, the majority of their ads are on the weekend.  In any event, you should be applying for every job that you are qualified for. http://www2.ljworld.com/

    By the way, your question says that you want "to return" to the work field.  Does that mean you've been out of the workplace for a while?  If so, make sure your skills (particularly computer skills) are up to par.  It can definitely make the difference, especially in a tight job market.
