I am trying to help resource poor livestock keepers in the semi arid areas of kenya to improve the productivity of their livestock. The rainfall is about 500 mm annually. Some practice crop farming with livestock as an alternative source of livelihood.

SSA Feeds : Sub-Saharan African Feed Information System

'SSA Feeds' is a web-based software and database that provides information on the nutritive value of over 14,000 samples of livestock feeds from sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The database provides scientific evaluations of feed quantities for meat, dairy and draught animals of small-scale African farmers. It acts as a guide for development and aid agencies promoting improved nutrition for livestock, enabling farmers become more food-secure and better able to increase their income from animal products. The database is provided on the CGIAR's International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI).
