  1. A home improvement place (Lowes or Home Depot), or perhaps a craft store like Michaels.

  2. I bet if you went to one of the big DIY stores, or electrical shops like Dixons, they would have loads of polystyrene in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and free, all the big stuff gets packed in it.

  3. try a moving place

    like big yellow

or somthing there bound to have it, probly for free

  4. Okay, just for everyone's education... Styrofoam is a brand-name for Dow-Corning's EXTRUDED polystyrene foam (the open-celled stuff that crumbles and crunches.  EXPANDED polystyrene is the stuff used in packing and for coffee-cups.

You can find BOTH at most building supply stores in the "insulation" section, and can often ORDER large sheets or blocks through better hobby stores or packing wholesalers.

and YES, for my own projects, I have NO problem "dumpster-diving" behind a furniture shop or such... I've found many 2'x 8'x 6" sheets that way and saved $$'s

I've used THIS site ( http://univfoam.com/ ) for purchasing large blocks (3'x3'x8') and sheets for sculpting statues and other theater-props... though that costs about $250

  5. try online would be your best bet. Some companies chuck it away and if the place was near you would probably give it to for free, if not always try E-bay or some other site
