In adition to the question above, I know the only way I can replace this is to pull the gas tank out and of course that means pulling the motor and unhooking the drivetrain from it and I know I could mess it all up easily, so my question is a rough estimate I should pay a shop to replace the fuel sender. I know how to work on these things, but thats just too far out of my ballpark, I can't get the old fuel sender out...not enough room and dont want to even think about pulling the engine out so someone please help. Thanks and have a nice day.

  1. To replace your fuel sender I would charge about $400 to R&R the engine plus $75 to replace the sender plus the cost of the sender.  If you have the SeaDoo service manual and the correct SeaDoo tools you can do it yourself.  Would I recomend this?  Not unless you or a friend have removed a PWC engine before.  Is the sender causing any issues other than the fuel gauge not operating?  If it isn't.  Ignor it.  But I would say spend the money and have it done right.  The tools aren't that expensive but will you ever use these tools again?  www.jamminjetskis.com The cost adds up, with judes and oils and tools and time.  Good Luck and hope the best either way.

  2. First of all the fuel tank should be in the nose under the storage basket of which you can remove by lifting out.

Second the fuel tank is held in by rubber straps of which un-hook easily, the fuel sending unit is on top of gas tank and it can be removed easily and I do believe Sea Doo had a recall on that unit, due to the fact that the magnets in the pump that read the level of fuel fall off so the sending unit will be in op!

I have a 96 Sea Doo XP of which I replaced my own and it was easy to do took a little bit of time but not hard to do!

You can do it with common tools no need to buy expense tools.

If you want to email me I can send you a copy of the Shop Manuel ......

IT'S NOT HARD DONT GO SPENDING ALOT OF $$ TO FIX THIS.........

  3. There should be enough room (through the front storage hatch door) to get to the tank after you have removed the storage tray from the storage compartment. I am assuming that your gas tank is located in front of the engine? Hopefully the tank is empty or close to being empty. You should definitely not have to remove engine and drivetrain. Take the gas tank loose from its mountings and you should be able to tip it just enough so that the fuel sender comes out of the tank up through the storage hatch at the front of the boat. Take old fuel sender loose remembering exactly how it was connected and install new sender then install tank to its original position. Hope this helps. If you take it to a dealer, they shouldn't charge you more than 1 hour labor.

  4. I've bought a bunch of stuff from this place, seems like they have everything I have ever needed, it's good and safe too.

They also have forums which are very informative and a bunch of knowledgeable mariners are there to help
