Where can I get a venus flytrap?

I live in Lombard, Illinois, it's a suburb west of Chicago, and I would like to buy a venus flytrap, but I can't find any stores in my area that sell them. I've been to the Wal-Marts by me and I've been to the local florists by me. But, I still can't find anything. Can anyone help me, please?

Thank you in advance for your answers. :-)

  1. Here you go. While you're there you should fill out the request form for their free catalog. I've got one from them and it is full of the most unusual and bizarre plants and flowers you'll find anywhere. They have several kinds of carnivorous plants as well....

EDIT..... After a little more digging on the net I came up with these 2 stores that were listed in Chicago and supposed to sell Venus fly traps. Unfortunately, I'm in Louisiana so I can't tell you 100 %. But you might want to give them a call and they could point you in the right direction.

  2. You can sometimes find them at Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Lowes, or a local hardware store. If none of those stores have them, you can find them at almost any nursery. Just call a few local nurseries near you and ask them.

However, most of the plants that you find at the local stores and nurseries will be sick and on the verge of death unless they just arrived at the store.

I have ordered some plants online and I have been very happy with the health of the plants. Specifically, flytrapshop.com has excellent plants.

For a list of other retailers see here:

  3. order it off the interweb

and they die quikly without a good food supply, there will be time when youll have to feed it, very touch plants
