Question:

Where can I get an all-in-one jewelry making starter kit (NOT the kiddy kind) for a decent price?

I'm sick of buying costume jewelry and its metal parts ending up with a crazy funky unpleasant smell! It never fails. So, I'd like to find out what the stuff is made of so I can avoid using it, and learn how to make my own jewelry. I'm not finding a good site with a kit that includes everything I'll need to get started making all types of jewelry I want (like bracelets, necklaces, earrings, AND the tools & supplies) by searching Google and Yahoo. I can't even find anything decent on Ebay and Amazon. Any ideas?

  1. All of your base metals that make up the inexpensive stuff is going to be in kits.  Personally, I never have seen a kit with really good stuff in it.

You need the following components to start jewelry making:

    1. A crimping tool

    2. Chain nose pliers, flat nose pliers and round nose pliers - these you can find in a kit as a trio.

    3. You need basic jump rings.  If base metals bother you, buy sterling silver.

    4. Head pins and eye pins.  Again, buy sterling silver if the base metals bother you.

    5. Beads and other findings such as clasps and closures and stringing material.  Those are plethora and only your imagination limits you.

Go to your local craft store to find all these things including an instruction book.  You might do a search on "jewelry making tutorial" first.  That book can get a little pricey!

    Good luck and have fun!

  2. Try

    http://www.herrshners.com/

type in "jewelry kit" in the search box.

Hope you find what you are looking for.:)

  3. Try JO-ANNS.com or Michaels.com

  4. Try Joanns Micaels orHobby Lobby any craft store sells kits that are more expensive and has better quality of stuff in them

    Good luck and have fun
