I need to know where i can get really cheap 5.56 NATO ammo. I don't care about quality, just as long as it's non-corrosive.

  1. Cheaper than dirt, but i agree with the guy about the wolf stuff. Russian made c**p.

  2. Wolf and Bear ammunition are the only "cheap" ammunition currently available.  The surplus has dried up.  I use Wolf exclusively in my ARs for practice.  It has never caused a problem and the 55gr HP is suprisingly accurate.

The cheapest M193 US Military spec 5.56 is here....

It is listed as .223 in the ad, but it is 5.56 ammo.

  3. Metropol. You realize that the 5.56 NATO is not the exact same thing as the .223? The 5.556 cartridge is bit longer and thus cannot be fired out of the .223, you are correct, however, that the .223 can be fired out of something chambered in 5.56. Burning hotter has nothing to do with it. But that guy at the top was right. go to cheaperthandirt.com

  4. As a service to a fellow shooter, I include the handy blue stuff to left-click on. http://www.cheaperthandirt.com./ Regards, Larry.

  5. I get JCM (I think) of JMC .223 remmington jhp, I get it for $6 per box of 20, I see that being the cheapest, at any store without buying bulk. .223 rem and 5.56 ARE the same thing it is just a Nato conversion. Even When you but Actual .223 from Remmington, it says 5.56 on the box. Unless you are shooting at over 300 yards I can't tell the difference, and no misfires, or misfeeds, I clean my AR-15 after every shoot, so cleanlyness would not matter much.

  6. You are aware that .223 is the same exact size as the 5.56X45 ?.... The .223 has a slightly less hotter powder charge and can be fired in any rifle chambered for 5.56..... Its not the other way arounf. The 5.56 has a little more bang and shouldnt be used in any rifle labeled .223 but you can use it the other way around.....

  7. Cheeper than dirt.

  8. Cheaper than Dirt, that has already been mentioned is one. I also buy ammo from Midway USA.

Sometimes one will have a better deal, sometimes the other will.

I prefer the customer service from Midway USA

Not to mention the fact Midway USA is one of the biggest supporters of our 2nd Amendment rights. They give millions($) to the NRA

  9. Load your own.

  10. Your best bet on 5.56x45mm is going to be wolf brand ammo. As far as price goes, that is as cheap as it gets, it's quality is about as bad as it gets.

Personally i wouldn't feed my AR-15 and other 5.56 weapons steel cased anything, and wolf is notorious for being very dirty. But considering all that, if you only care for price, wolf stuff.

You can get it from Gun shops or several on line sellers.
